The Sister Training Leader reminded all the missionaries that the three topics discussed in the last zone conference were Book of Mormon, Preach My Gospel, and Consecrated Missionaries.  She felt inspired to do a follow up the Book of Mormon because it is essential to conversion.

It is the Spirit of the Holy Ghost that allows the words inside the Book of Mormon to go into the heart.

The goal of the mission is to get 40 baptisms per month.  If we are to achieve this goal, we need to get investigators to read the Book of Mormon.  Reading will help them gain a testimony of the truthfulness of the book.

Moroni 10:3-5
Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things,
if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them,
that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto
the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until
the time that ye shall receive these things,
and ponder it in your hearts.

And when ye shall receive these things,
I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ,
if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent,
having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you,
by the power of the Holy Ghost.

And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.

If you don't read the Book of Mormon everyday, how can you expect your investigators to read it?

"Please do not take the Book of Mormon for granted.
Pray for a vision of how the Book of Mormon can be used
more effectively in your mission.
I promise that as you do so, your mind will be enlightened
with the direction that you should take."
--Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin

The Zone Leaders talked about "How to Begin Teaching" and emphasized the importance of being obedient because that is what sets the foundation for how we teach.  Everything we do is determined by our obedience.  We show God that we are His representatives by being obedient.  An obedient missionary is a consecrated missionary.

It is important to set the right tone the minute we begin teaching an investigator.  In order to facilitate this concept, the zone leaders took all the missionaries outside on the front steps of the church and had them do a role play.  It was a unique setting with St. Michael's castle on the hill in the background.

Teach so that others will strengthen their faith in Jesus Christ, desire to repent,
and enter into covenants with God.
Preach My Gospel, p. 19

Effective teachers are always working to improve their knowledge and abilities.
Preach My Gospel, p. 19

"True doctrine, understood, changes attitudes and behavior.  The study of the
doctrines of the gospel will improve behavior quicker than a
study of behavior will improve behavior."
--President Boyd K. Packer
