Golden Envelopes - May 2015

May 27, 2015

Sometimes we just have to laugh.  After dinner we went over a few more crucial things that the missionaries need to know before they leave the next morning to travel to their first area of service and meet their trainers.  At the conclusion, before passing out the golden envelopes with information about who their trainer is and where they are going, we asked if they had any questions.  They are fighting to stay awake at this point, but one elder was alert enough to ask where they were going.  As soon as they were told the golden envelopes were next, they all woke up.  After that, it's hard to get them to go to bed.

The following morning all the missionaries, except one, had to be out the door and on the way to the train by 6:30 am.

Provo MTC New Missionaries - May 2015

May 27, 2015

This time of year we always consider it a miracle when the new missionaries arrive with all their luggage.  We consider it another Italy Rome Mission Miracle because all the missionaries arrived with all their luggage.  They arrived and hour and a half late, but at least they had their luggage.  They were all excited to finally be in Italy, and we are so excited to have them.

3 Nephi 5:13

Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.  I have been called of him to declare
His word among His people, that they might have everlasting life.

Spain New Missionaries - May 2015

May 26, 2015

President Spencer W. Kimball (1895–1985) regarding faith:

“It takes faith—unseeing faith—for young people to proceed immediately with their family responsibilities in the face of financial uncertainties. … It takes faith to fill full-time missions. But know this—that all these are of the planting, while faithful, devout families, spiritual security, peace, and eternal life are the harvest.”

Two new missionaries arrived in Rome after spending two weeks in the Spain MTC.  Both live in Northern Italy and will now be spending two years in Southern Italy.  They are wonderful.  We look forward to working with them.
