Golden Envelopes - October 2014

October 29, 2014

3 Nephi 5:13

Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
I have been called of him to declare his word among his people,
that they might have everlasting life.

The most exciting part of the day for new missionaries is opening their golden envelopes that contains the information about where they will be serving and who their trainer will be.  It's almost as exciting as opening the initial envelope containing their call to serve in the Italy Rome Mission.

New Missionaries - Rome Temple - October 2014

October 29, 2014

Thirteen new missionaries . . . with all their luggage in tact.  It's an Italy Rome Mission miracle.

It's a tradition to drive by the Rome Temple Site on the way to the villa.  It's the first real opportunity to take pictures in Rome and we couldn't ask for a better backdrop.  By the time the missionaries get to the temple, they are vacillating between exhaustion and excitement.  However, we have never yet had a missionary who wasn't anxious to jump out of the car and have a picture taken.

Kitchen Help

Whenever President is interviewing missionaries, I get to spend time with the companion.  I always make them do something constructive in the kitchen.  I really think they like doing it.

New Missionaries - October 2014

October 29, 2014

"Pinch yourselves.  You're in Rome.  You're serving in the greatest mission in the world.  Only the best missionaries come to the Italy Rome Mission."   That's what we tell all the missionaries as soon a they are in Rome.  They are excited to be here.  (They are also exhausted.)  We are delighted to have them join our mission family.
