Baptism in Rome 3

April 3, 2016

Whenever possible, we attend baptisms.  Tonight we were able to make it to the Rome 3 Ward.  We love baptisms.  There is always such a beautiful spirit there.

We always take a picture of the missionaries at baptisms.  We tried to get one with just the missionaries, but a member wanted to be in it.  Then we tried to get one with just the missionaries and the brother who was baptized and everybody at the baptism wanted to be in it.    We are always happy to have them participate.

Consiglio - April 2016

April 29, 2016

We held the Mission Leadership Council (Consiglio) the day after transfers.  All Zone Leaders and Sister Training Leaders attend either in person, if they serve in Rome, or via satellite if they are serving in other areas.  Modern technology allows us to communicate even when we are miles apart.  It's a great blessing.

President and I, and the Assistants, talked about a variety of things that the leaders of the mission should do and be aware of.

We have talked a lot lately about the mission Standards of Excellence.  The mission hashtag has become:

"May is the Month"

*  *  *  *  *

Excellence is not a goal.  It is a habit.

*  *  *  *  *

Plan perfectly.
Execute flexibly.

We attended the Mission President's Seminar last week and there were a number of things we wrote down that we wanted to share with the missionaries.

Teach Repentance and Baptize Converts

*  *  *

We bring the Holy Ghost unto the hearts of investigators.
They have it bring it into their hearts.

"I don't think much of a man who isn't better today than he was yesterday."
Abraham Lincoln

Don't worry about the message--just become the message.

If you want to score more points, you have to take more shots.

Golden Envelopes

April 27, 2016

One of the highlights of the mission is watching the new missionaries open their "golden envelopes".  It was exciting when they opened their mission call, but most of them agree this is even more exciting.

(We have wonderful senior missionaries serving in the office who are so willing to help and ensure that the new missionaries get off to a good start and then help sustain them on their journey.)

 Alma 7:14-15

14  Now I say unto you that ye must repent, and be born again;
for the Spirit saith if ye are not born again ye cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven;
therefore come and be baptized unto repentance, that ye may be washed from your sins,
that ye may have faith on the Lamb of God, who taketh away the sins of the world,
who is mighty to save and to cleanse from all unrighteousness.

15  Yea, I say unto you come and fear not, and lay aside every sin,
which easily doth beset you, which doth bind you down to destruction,
yea, come and go forth, and show unto your God that ye are willing
to repent of your sins and enter into a covenant with him to keep his commandments,
and witness it unto him this day by going into the waters of baptism.
