Jesus taught us much about charity through his example.  He reached out to the poor, the sinner, and the needy.  We, too, should be charitable as we teach the gospel through spoken word and through example.

Luke 17:11-17
12  And as he entered into a certain village,
there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:

13  And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

14  And when he saw them, he said unto them,
Go shew yourselves unto the priests.
And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.

15  And one of them, when he saw that he was healed,
turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,

16  And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks:
 and he was a Samaritan.

17  And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed?
but where are the nine?

Alma 32:2-3
2  And it came to pass that after much labor among them,
they began to have success among the poor class of people;
for behold, they were cast out of the synagogues
because of the coarseness of their apparel—

3  Therefore they were not permitted to enter into their synagogues
 to worship God, being esteemed as filthiness;
therefore they were poor; yea, they were esteemed by their brethren as dross;
therefore they were poor as to things of the world;
and also they were poor in heart.

John 8:3-11
3  And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery;
and when they had set her in the midst,

4  They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery,
in the very act.

5  Now Moses in the law commanded us,
that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?

6  This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him.
 But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground,
as though he heard them not.

7  So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself,
 and said unto them, He that is without sin among you,
let him first cast a stone at her.

8  And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

9  And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience,
went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last:
and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

10  When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman,
he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers?
hath no man condemned thee?

11  She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her,
Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

Luke 7:12-14
12  Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold,
there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother,
and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.

13  And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her,
and said unto her, Weep not.

14  And he came and touched the bier:
and they that bare him stood still.
And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.
