New Missionaries

January 21, 2015

Looking at pictures of the new missionaries who just arrived in Rome, it's a wonder any of them have a smile on their face let alone being awake.  The plane ride to Rome is long even under the best of circumstances.  It's especially difficult when your plane is delayed and you miss your flight and only part of the group can get on the next flight out and so part of you are left behind to catch a later flight.  Instead of arriving in Rome at 1:00 pm, 13 of the 16 arrived about 4:30 and the other 3 arrived about 6:00 pm.  The good news is that they all arrived safely in Rome.  The miracle is that they all got their luggage.  They were hungry and exhausted and still had to get some training before leaving early the next morning for where ever they would be serving.  After having their first Italian meal in the Mission Home, we gave them as much training as they could endure and sent them to bed.  (At that point, some of them were too excited to sleep anyway.)  We sent word to their new trainers to let them take a nap so they could focus on their purpose for being in the mission field.  Soon they will forget how tired they are and will be busy doing the Lord's work of Bringing Others Unto Christ!

3 Nephi 5:13

Behold, I am a disciple of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.  I have been
called of him to declare His word among His people, that they might
have everlasting life.
