New Senior Couple

February 29, 2016

A new couple arrived in the Italy Rome Mission.  We're so excited to have them.  They will be helping in the office doing scheduling for transfers, referrals, Rome Forum, etc., etc., etc.  Maybe we will just refer to them as Coppia Friday (as in Boy Friday who does everything).

President Waddoups again talked about the story in Luke of the rich young ruler who said he had lived a good life and wanted to know what more he needed to do.  He was told he needed to sell all his riches and follow Christ.

A few verses later Peter said he had given up everything and followed Christ.

Luke 18:28-30
Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.  And he said unto them,
Verily I say unto you,

There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children,
for the kingdom of God's sake,

Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time,
and in the world to come life everlasting.

Peter gave up everything to follow Christ.  He even went to Rome where he finished his mortal ministry and was crucified on a cross upside down.  The missionaries serving in Rome today have put everything on the altar for eighteen to twenty-four months, but they will not be asked to give up their lives.  They only need to "bee the best they can bee."

I like to think of personal study time as a
personal interview with God.

When Jesus Christ appeared before the people, he smiled upon them.  As missionaries we have been called upon to smile upon the people for 18 to 24 months.

3 Nephi 19:25
And it came to pass that Jesus blessed them as they did pray unto him;
and his countenance did smile upon them, and the light of his countenance
did shine upon them . . . .

(Sometimes the missionaries say the cutest things:
"The angels who are taking notes in heaven just filled three books because that was so good.")
