Bari Zone Conference

November 7, 2018

Bari Zone received the same training on the Book of Mormon as the other zones have received.  It's a topic that resonated with them because the foundation of the truthfulness of the gospel lies in the messages contained within it.

During the review on teaching the English class, one of our missionaries from Ghana had the missionaries stand in a circle (called a huddle) and taught them some words in Twi which is his native tongue.

President Waddoups talked about the Standards of Excellence for the Italy Rome Mission and encouraged each of the missionaries to work as hard as possible to achieve the mission goals.  The main goal is 40 baptisms per month.

STANDARDS OF EXCELLENCE
for the
ITALY ROME MISSION
October 2013

On page 146 of Preach My Gospel it says:  “Over time, your mission president may establish standards of excellence or mission goals intended to raise your vision and increase your faith.”

The following Standards of Excellence have now been established for our mission:

We are a BAPTIZING MISSION.

We have INVESTIGATORS WITH A BAPTISM DATE.

We are an OBEDIENT MISSION.

We TEACH WITH MEMBERS whenever possible.

We are a PREACH MY GOSPEL MISSION.

Investigators:  2 per week per companionship.  This Standard of Excellence reflects our desire to find families to teach, as well as individuals.  (We are currently averaging one new investigator per companionship per week but we are starting to see these numbers increase.)

Lessons taught with members present:  3 per companionship.  The current average is approximately 2 per companionship.

Total Investigators with a baptism date:  2 per companionship.  (The average is currently .5 per companionship.)

Investigators at Sacrament Meeting:  3 per week per companionship.  (The current average is about 1 per companionship.)

Baptisms and Confirmations:  Our Standard of Excellence for the mission is 40 baptisms per month or 480 per year.  (Our highest month thus far has been 23.)

For other key indicators, prayerfully set your own weekly goals.

Remember the power of goals.  Each day we should plan for, pray about and work diligently toward accomplishing our goals.  Our goals and plans, combined with our faith and works, transform our love for God and others into action.

It is important to remember that others also have the gift of agency.  You will feel God’s love and a sense of peace if you have done your best (“bee the best you can bee”), even if others choose not to accept your invitation to come unto Christ and be baptized in His name.

  1. Dear President and Sister Waddoups,
I was directing the congregational music in sacrament this Sunday and we sang "Called to Serve." It made me think about you and the wonderful work you are doing. As I looked out at the youth in the congregation, I wondered if they were remembering and thinking about you too. Thank you for the example of service and joy you provide for us in the ward. We speak of you often.

P.S. Kyle Nelson was speaking in the meeting that we sang "Called to Serve." He has been reassigned to a full-time mission in California after successfully being able to handle his temporary mission and his diabetes issues in Draper.
