Napoli Zone Conference

October 31, 2013

Happy Halloween!  Halloween isn't a really big holiday in Italy.  You see some decorations, but not a lot, although everybody knows what Halloween is.  After zone conference, we went with the missionaries to teach English class and they had a Halloween party afterwards.  It was pot luck and everybody brought something.  About 25 people were in attendance and only a couple of them were members.

The Napoli zone is considered the roughest zone in the mission.  It's a tough place to get converts and the atmosphere is different in Napoli than anywhere else.  The streets are mostly made of cobblestone and even driving in Napoli is rough.  However, the missionaries love serving there and it's one of the coveted zones in the mission.

The zone conference is held in the chapel in Pozzouli which probably has the prettiest view from any chapel in the mission.  Several English speaking members attend that ward so songs are listed in both Italian and English.

One of the zones decided they should each buy a stuffed animal.  I'm not sure I really understand all the reasoning behind it, but I got the impression it was so they could channel all their excess energy into the animals.  I asked them if they threw them at someone when they were frustrated and the response was that they usually threw somebody else's animal.  At zone conference the stuffed animals were all tucked into a backpack--at least they were at first.

During the review on English class, the missionaries had a demonstration on learning Portuguese.

As usual, lunch was a Margherita pizza because pizza was born in Napoli.

Rimborsi means reimbursements.  It's a popular box.
