Sardegna

October 5-8, 2013

Because we were driving from town to town doing exchanges and meeting with missionaries, we were able to see quite a bit of the island of Sardegna.  The saying is that Sardegna has more sheep than people.  We did see a lot of sheep.  This is the third time we have been to Sardegna but we usually fly in and go straight to the church and from the church back to the airport.  It's nice to get a better feel for where the missionaries serve.

How can you pass up a town named Saint Anna?  (It's so small you'd miss it if you blinked.)

San Michele Castle - It is said that there was a queen who lived in the castle at one point who had five husbands and had each of them killed.  Her ghost still haunts the castle.  The castle has recently been transformed into a modern art center.

Port of Cagliari

We grabbed a salad at a little outdoor cafe near the port before boarding the ferry.  This pigeon flew up on the table beside us and then flew from table to table --ugh!

Sleeping quarters on ferry.  The trip from Cagliari to Cittavecchia near Rome is 15 hours.  We left at 7:00 pm at night and slept until morning when the ferry reached the port about 10:00 am.
