Three members of one family were baptized in Oristano on the island of Sardegna. We were scheduled to go to Sardegna for Specialized Training a couple of days later and had already planned to go a day early so we could attend church in Cagliari. The baptism was on Saturday and it worked out perfectly for us to fly there Saturday morning instead of Saturday evening and that allowed us to drive the hour from Cagliari to Oristano and be there for the baptism.
Oristano is a very small branch and hasn't seen much activity for a long time. In the last three months, they have had four baptisms. It's a tremendous boost for the Branch.
The Branch President baptized the two young boys and one of the elders baptized the mother. The elder used to serve in Castellammare near Napoli. It's another really small area with a tiny branch that hadn't seen any activity in a long time. When he served there, we told him if he ever had three baptisms at a time to let us know and we would be there. It wasn't until we were actually in Oristano for the baptisms that we remembered what we had said to him nearly a year ago. He had three baptisms and we were there.
The father wasn't baptized, but we have faith that in time his heart will be softened and he will want to join his wife and children.
The meeting portion of the baptism was held at the church and then everyone carpooled to the sea a half hour away for the actual baptisms. Nearly the whole branch was there. It was incredible.
I love seeing baptisms in the sea. What a wonderful day that must have been!
