The arrival of new missionaries is always an adventure. This time they all arrived on time, but none of them got all their luggage. Bit by bit it continued to show up at the airport and at 12:30 am the last two retrieved the rest of their luggage. We are grateful they have it. Last transfer a couple of the missionaries didn't actually get their luggage for three weeks. Summertime is particularly hectic at the airport and we have a real problem with lost luggage.
By the time we do a little training, feed them and give them their golden envelopes containing their area of service and the name of their trainer, they are exhausted. This group was no different. Most of them didn't get to bed until after midnight and several of them had to be up at 5:00 am to go to the train station. After a couple of weeks they will catch up on their sleep and figure out what they are doing. Right now they are in a survival mode--but they are excited to be in Italy. We're excited to watch them grow spiritually. This is a wonderful place to be and there's lots of work to be done.
