Otranto

December 19, 2015

Ever since Michael returned from his mission in Italy 48 years ago, he was wanted to return to the city of Otranto.  He remembered visiting a church there with a lot of bones and the liver of a Saint that was still soft after a hundreds of years and had never turned hard or deteriorated.  After 2 1/2 years of being in Italy, we finally drove near by Otranto and stopped to see the church.

The part about the liver being soft must have been one of those missionary stories that get passed on, but didn't really happen.  The church was there along with all the bones, but there was nothing to suggest that a soft liver ever existed.  It was kind of a let down, but at least he won't feel the need to return there again.  :)

The good thing is that Otranto is a beautiful resort town on the Ionic Sea.
