Unlike Utah, Italy doesn't celebrate July 24th as Pioneer Day. Instead of going to parades and spending time with family, we visited two of our missionaries serving in Mistretta on the island of Sicily. After finishing zone conference in Palermo, we drove to Catania, which is across the island for the next zone conference. We drove a different route which allowed us to drive through Mistretta. Mistretta is a small hilltop city on the southern end of Sicily. The Branch is very small and they haven't had much activity for a long time. We wanted to get a feel for the city so we could better understand the challenges they face. We actually found a charming little city with one of the cutest chapels we've seen anywhere in Italy. Somehow we need to figure out how to jump start the city.
