Rome West Specialized Training - March 2016

Rome West Zone - March 2016

Both Sister Training Leaders in this zone are new to this calling.  They were a little nervous about teaching, but they did a superb job.  They did a follow up on the invitations extended in the last zone conference to read the Book of Mormon every day and finish reading it by May 15 and also to study Preach My Gospel for 30 minutes a day.  The goal was not just to read PMG, but to really study it and pray for guidance to apply the principles they learn from studying.

As the missionaries have done these things for the last six weeks they reported their own testimonies had increased significantly as they have read the Book of Mormon.  They have found new investigators.  As they have prayed to find families to teach, they are actually being lead to families who want to learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The important thing for each missionary is that they have to have faith they can accomplish the things they set out to do.  They have to have faith they will find new people to teach.  Then they have to have faith that they can actually teach the gospel principles.

D&C 4:4-5
And faith, hope, charity and love, with an eye single to the glory of God,
qualify him for the work.
All of us had faith we should come on a mission  God has faith in us.  We need to have faith to do His will.  We need to have faith to become the missionaries God wants us to become.

When we are faithful, diligent missionaries, we will be blessed.

Helaman 10:4-6
 Blessed art thou, Nephi, for those things which thou hast done;
 for I have beheld how thou hast with unwearyingness declared the word,
which I have given unto thee, unto this people.
And thou hast not feared them, and hast not sought thine own life,
but hast sought my will, and to keep my commandments.

And now, because thou hast done this with such unwearyingness,
behold, I will bless thee forever;
and I will make thee mighty in word and in deed, in faith and in works;
yea, even that all things shall be done unto thee according to thy word,
for thou shalt not ask that which is contrary to my will.

Behold, thou art Nephi, and I am God.
Behold, I declare it unto thee in the presence of mine angels,
that ye shall have power over this people,
and shall smite the earth with famine, and with pestilence, and destruction,
according to the wickedness of this people.

The Zone Leaders talked about Reaching New Levels with an emphasis on striving to reach the mission Standards of Excellence.

"Bee who God wants us to bee!"

They talked about the importance of companionship unity.  Before missionaries can have companionship unity, they have to have unity between them and the Holy Ghost.

"No man can preach the gospel without the Holy Ghost."
--Joseph Smith

They told a story about two missionaries who weren't unified.  As they were walking along one day, they saw two cars that were going in the same direction.  Both cars wanted the right of way and wouldn't yield to the other car.  The result was a collision in the middle of the street that blocked traffic for a kilometer.  The two missionaries suddenly realized the importance of solving their differences and moving forward.  Their hostilities towards each other were preventing the from moving forward and keeping them from doing what they needed to do.
