Rome West Zone - February 2016 |

Each zone conference I attempt to do something in the form
of an activity as a diversion from just sitting and listening.
All the missionaries are asked to close their eyes and put
their heads down. As I walk around the
room, I tap on the head of a missionary.
That missionary goes to the front of the room and sits on a chair. The missionaries are told to open their
eyes. I then ask the group “Who is this
person?” After receiving an answer, I
then ask “What do you know about this person?”.
The responses vary from things about where they live, what sports they
like, that they are really good at speaking the language, etc. The next question is “How do you feel about
this person?” The responses become more
personal and the other missionaries tell the person how they respect them and
why. At this point, the person is asked
to return to their regular seat.
The process is repeated again and another person is chosen
to take the seat in the front of the room.
The same three questions are repeated and the same typical responses are
given.
The third time, instead of a person asked to sit on the
chair, I put a picture of Jesus Christ on the chair. The missionaries usually look a little
surprised when they see the picture. The
same three questions are asked. “Who is
this?”, What do you know about this person? and How do you feel about this
person?” You can tell by the look on the
missionaries faces that they are really thinking about their own individual
relationship with their Savior.
The final time, a copy of the Book of Mormon is put on the
chair. The first question is “What is
this?” The second question is “What do
you know about this book?” Finally, “How
do you feel about this book.”
At this point, the Spirit is strong. Each missionary is thinking about his/her relationship with the Savior and how they really feel about the Book of Mormon. It’s a wonderful feeling.

The Holy Ghost is the ultimate teacher.
We bring the spirit to the people,
but we can't put it inside the person.
The spirit is always the strongest right after the
Joseph Smith story.
