D&C 42:6
And ye shall go forth in the power of my
Spirit, preaching my gospel,
two by two, in my name, lifting up your voices as with the sound of a
trump, declaring my word like unto angels of God.
We have all been called as representatives of Jesus
Christ. Each of us has been given the
same call. We need to call upon God’s
Spirit so we can be blessed. When we do
that, we are blessed and our efforts are more productive. When we feel the Spirit, we need to act upon
it. When we are obedient we are in a
position to receive more blessings and more inspiration.
We are commanded to go two by two for a good reason. We need to have companionship unity as we
strive to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.
If there is contention in our companionships, we cannot have the Spirit
with us. If we don’t have the Spirit ,
we can’t teach others to feel the
Spirit. It is important to resolve
companionship differences in order to be effective missionaries. Unfortunately most of the contention between
companionships is a result of disobedience.
When we are obedient as a companionship, the Spirit strengthens us and
helps us do the missionary work we have been sent to do. When we are united, our voices can be as the
sound of a trump.

The Zone Leaders began their addestramento by giving four companionships of missionaries a piece of paper and telling them they had 60 seconds to discuss how they would make a paper airplane, make the airplane, and then fly it. Without any advance planning and without the knowledge to make a paper airplane, their attempts were pretty feeble. Even the ones who had previous knowledge of how to make one weren't very successful.
Wilbur
and Orville Wright were told they could never fly. They had many trials and hardships, but they
kept trying and trying until they eventually developed the first aircraft. They set their goals and worked hard. They continued working as a companionship
until they achieved what no one else thought was possible.
If
we continue to work and “bee the best we can bee” we can achieve standards of
excellence that no one else thinks we can.
In order to achieve these goals we have to have these attributes:
1. Self Control
We have the power to act and
we have the power to not act.
--Aristotle
2. Attitude
And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep
his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
1 John 3:22
3. Agency
For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things.
If not so, my first-born in the wilderness, righteousness could not be
brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness nor misery,
neither good nor bad. Wherefore, all things must needs be a compound in
one;
wherefore, if it should be one body it must needs remain as dead,
having no life neither death, nor corruption nor incorruption,
happiness nor misery, neither sense nor insensibility.
2 Nephi 2:11
It’s by simple
things that great things come to pass.
4. Trust in Divine Power
And again, I say unto you that it is my will
that
my servant Lyman Wight should continue in preaching for Zion,
in the spirit of meekness, confessing me before the world;
and I will bear him up as on eagles' wings; and he shall beget
glory and honor to himself and unto my name.
--D&C 124:17-18

Sister Waddoups, we so much appreciate your blog, comments and photos. They make our grandson Anziano Taylor Garretts' mission so real to us. We hear from him every week and we also enjoy knowing what else is going on in the mission. We will be sorry to see your time in Italia end.
