Sicily experienced some torrential rains earlier this year and a huge bridge was damaged on the road that leads across the island from Catania to Palermo. It's the road we have taken for two years now. Unfortunately, the detour takes us an extra 1 1/2 to 2 hours to get across the island. The good thing is is that the scenery is beautiful.
