Church at Terni

June 15, 2014

We attended church in Terni on Sunday (which wasn't Father's Day in Italy).  As usual the missionaries were thrilled to have us there.  They did two confirmations in Sacrament Meeting for two Young Single Adult age individuals.  We are seeing a lot of growth in that age group in Italy.  They are the future of the church and we are excited for them.

The Terni Ward is the home ward of the Stake President.  He was in attendance that day and was the last speaker.  At the very end of his talk, he announced that the Terni Ward membership had grown to the point where they will be getting a new free standing building.  Construction will probably begin at the first of the year.  It's been a dream of theirs for years and now it will be a reality.  I watched the members after church.  Sisters were hugging and crying.  Some of the older men just sat in their chairs with looks of disbelief on their faces.  The room was filled with enthusiastic chatter.  It was a sight to behold.  We hadn't heard the news previously, but President didn't waste any time telling the elders to work hard because they had a new church to fill now.

We see lots of pork (swino), but have never seen a pig in Italy.  We did, however, see a sign for a pig festival.
