I copied a section from my niece's blog because it has such a beautiful message.
I want to share a bit about the session on the Provo Tabernacle/Temple. The project manager in charge of the restoration/renovation began by saying "There is quality and then there's temple quality." I really loved that distinction. Brother Kirby also referenced that the tabernacle becoming a temple is a symbolism of conversion. The Provo Tabernacle was a significant building, it went through a significant tragedy, and now is being rebuilt with a better foundation to be overall better and stronger than it ever was before. He listed off several major issues they have faced, including sandy soil, high winds (a big concern since the structure was on stilts), liquefaction, corrosion, etc. Basically there are lots of things trying to destroy the temple, and this is analogous to our lives. We'll be buffeted and have a lot of things against us, but if we build a strong foundation and fortify ourselves, then our own temple can be lasting. He talked about the importance of re-bar and how it strengthens against cracks and said the scriptures (the Iron Rod) do the same in our lives. --Melissa
