Palermo is a big zone. It consists of all elders and no sisters. Most of the day the power was out at the church and we nearly melted. It would come on for a few minutes and give us a bit of a reprieve and then it would go out again. We opened all the windows and let in fresh air. It was hot air, but at least it moved around a little bit.
It is important for our English speaking missionaries to learn Italian, but it is also important for our Italian missionaries to speak English. We were told by an Apostle that English is the language of the restoration. For those missionaries serving with a native Italian, they are to spend time each day teaching their companion some English. We practiced introducing the pamphlet on the Restoration of the Gospel during zone conference. It was an impressive sight to see the Italian speaking missionaries presenting it in English. The English speaking missionaries were all to do it in Italian, except for the new missionaries who have only been in Italy for 3 weeks. They had the option to present the booklet in English, but had to do the Joseph Smith story in Italian. Most of them tried to do the whole thing in Italian. They are so impressive.
